Championing low-carbon travel as Eurostar’s Dutch correspondent

Hop on board any Eurostar train and you’ll be treated to some top-drawer content to keep you company in the form of Metropolitan. This bi-monthly food, culture and design print publication has a monthly readership of approximately 966,000.

As Metropolitan’s Dutch correspondent, each issue I cover upcoming events, new openings and cultural highlights in Amsterdam and Rotterdam – and often Brussels and Lille, too.

I also have the pleasure of interviewing innovators, artists and designers from across the Netherlands.

Highlights from my Eurostar assignments include:

  • Putting Laura Heerema, founder of GiantLeaps – a startup with a tool that quantifies the environmental impact of food – in the innovation spotlight and picking her brains about climate-friendly cuisine
  • Interviewing the talented Dutch duo behind Adrian-Gidi creative studio on their creative process and secret spots in the city
  • Sourcing style insights from streetwear trend-setter Dennis Ebeli, founder of colourful sock brand Alfredo Gonzales
  • Diverting all eyes to Utrecht – for a 36-hour guide to exploring this quaint and quirky city

As the most climate-friendly way to travel around Europe (the Eurostar from London to Paris emits 91% less CO2 than flying) I’m delighted to use my wordsmith skills to get more people to trade flights for train travel.
